Not all celebrity couples with a big age gap make it, especially when they’re in the public eye a lot. But actor Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Thomas are making it work, perhaps because after a string of career-compromising incidents involving Baldwin’s hot temper, they’ve sort of backed away from the media spotlight to focus on their May-December marriage and on raising their 17-month-old daughter, Carmen.
It’s definitely a good thing that Alec Baldwin’s May-Dec ember marriage is in good order if nothing else, because the celebrity couple is expecting their second child together. “2015 is going to be very exciting as we are thrilled to announce we are expecting another little addition to our family,” Thomas shared via Instagram. Baldwin is equally excited, telling Extra that he is “blessed, very blessed,” and that the idea of having another baby feels “surreal.”
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Thomas suggested they’re having a boy—she posted a picture on Instagram of navy blue baby loafers—which means this would be Alec Baldwin’s first son. In addition to his daughter Carmen, the actor is also the father of 19-year-old Ireland Baldwin, from his first marriage to Kim Basinger. Baby number three is due this summer. If you’re keeping track, his oldest daughter is only 11 years younger than his wife.
Regardless, this just goes to show that couples with a big age gap are more than capable of having a happy, normal marriage. Just because he’s older, it doesn’t necessarily mean that having kids isn’t an option. Even with their 25-year age difference, Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas are well on their way to starting their own family.
