It’s been just over three months since George Clooney, 53, wed 36-year-old human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, and it didn’t take long for rumors to sprout that their famous May-December marriage wasn’t as solid as it looked.
The celebrity age gap couple made their first red carpet appearance together at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11, and if anyone had their doubts about whether or not Clooney’s May-December marriage to Amal Alamuddin was the real thing, he found a good way to show the world that they’re adjusting to married life just fine.
The actor was honored for lifetime achievement with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, and at the end of his speech, he paid tribute to his young new wife and his famous May-December marriage.“I’ve had a pretty good year myself,” he told the star-studded crowd. “Listen, it’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love—even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life.”
Probably not what all of his famous ex-girlfriends wanted to hear, but he didn’t stop there. “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband,” he said as his wife smiled coyly at him from the audience. It was certainly an “aww” moment for everyone watching.
What do you think—will George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s May-December marriage last?
