Michael Jordan, 50, and His Young Wife, Yvette Prieto, Are Having a Baby

At 50 years old, Michael Jordan is going to be a father again. The retired NBA star and his 35-year-old wife, Yvette Prieto, have just revealed that after seven months of marriage, they’re expecting their first child together. The news was confirmed by Jordan’s rep. This is the first child for Prieto, but Jordan already has three other kids aged 25, 22, and 20 from his first marriage.

It wasn’t too long ago that a rumor surfaced claiming that Jordan had had a vasectomy done after his first marriage ended, but Prieto allegedly made him reverse the procedure because she wanted kids. Jordan’s rep denied that there was ever a vasectomy done in the first place, but now we’ll never really know for sure. The celebrity couple hasn’t yet revealed when their baby is due.

Jordan may be older than most new dads, but it isn’t uncommon for May-December relationships. Kids are always a tricky topic when there’s a large age difference between the man and woman, but that doesn’t mean it can’t work. Fifty really isn’t as old as it used to be. And just because Jordan is a little older, it doesn’t mean he’s not capable of looking after his new family; he’s still in great shape and it doesn’t hurt that he’s still estimated to be worth $650.0 million.

What do you think: Is 50 too old to be having kids?
