If at first you don’t succeed, marry a much younger model.
On Saturday, April 27, 2013, 50-year-old basketball legend Michael Jordan and former Cuban-born model Yvette Prieto, 15 years his junior, married in Palm Beach, Florida, in front of a few hundred of their closest friends and family. The six-time NBA star and Prieto got engaged in 2011 after dating for three years.
Without question, the greatest basketball player of all time, Jordan helped popularize the NBA beyond its American borders throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Before joining the Chicago Bulls in1984, Jordan played for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Interestingly, Yvette Prieto was only four years old when Jordan helped North Carolina win its national title in 1981.
This is Jordan’s second marriage. In 1989, he married Chicago bank officer Juanita Vanoy in a Las Vegas ceremony in front of four guests. The couple was married for 17 years, before she filed for divorce in 2002, citing irreconcilable differences. After an attempted reconciliation, the couple’s divorce was made final in 2006; with Vanoy settling for around $165 million. The couple have three children.
