Comedian Tracy Morgan, 45, and his younger fiancée, 27-year-old Megan Wollover will have to put off their wedding indefinitely as their family struggles through some rough times. The celebrity couple, who got engaged in 2011 and welcomed their first child in July 2013, will be spending their days in a hospital where Morgan remains in critical condition after his limo bus was involved in a horrific six-vehicle collision on June 7, 2014.
According to news reports, Tracy Morgan was travelling home in the chauffeured bus with his entourage after a performance in Delaware when they were rear-ended by a Walmart tractor trailer, resulting in a pileup that left one man dead—Morgan’s mentor James McNair—and several others seriously injured. The driver of the 18-wheeler, who may have dozed off behind the wheel, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
Tracy Morgan usually traveled with his family—Megan Wollover and their new baby—when he toured. According to his limo driver, Tyrone Gale, the comedian spent some quality time with them before getting on the bus. “Tracy was holding his baby before we left and he said, ‘I’m holding my princess.’”
“I was devastated,” said Wollover’s mother after receiving news of the collision. “I couldn’t believe it. I was just hoping and praying that my daughter and the baby weren’t in the car.” Fortunately, Morgan’s family was not traveling on the limo bus with him; his fiancée and baby are perfectly fine.
Tracy Morgan wasn’t so lucky—he suffered from several broken bones, including broken ribs and a broken femur, and is expected to be in the hospital for a few weeks. His family is believed to be by his side. Although the celebrity couple will undoubtedly have some rough times ahead, Tracy Morgan is expected to eventually make a full recovery and return home to his family.
