Robin Thicke to Estranged Wife, Paula Patton: Take Me Back!

Ear­lier this week, it was revealed that Robin Thicke and his actress wife, Paula Pat­ton, were sep­a­rat­ing after nearly nine years of mar­riage, although they’ve been together since they were young teens. Although no rea­son was cited for the celebrity couple’s sud­den split, there’s a very good chance that it had some­thing to do with Robin Thicke’s recent behav­ior with much younger women.

Accord­ing to insid­ers, the trou­ble with their mar­riage first started after Thicke’s raunchy and con­tro­ver­sial per­for­mance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August 2013. His wife report­edly felt “utterly dis­re­spected” by the spec­ta­cle, espe­cially because it hap­pened in front of mil­lions of view­ers. Although Paula Pat­ton sup­ported and defended her hus­band in inter­views, that was sup­pos­edly the begin­ning of the end for this celebrity couple.

The real blow to the celebrity couple’s mar­riage came when Robin Thicke was accused of hav­ing an affair with a much younger woman at a party, while his wife stood just a few feet away. Pat­ton seem­ingly had enough and decided she wanted out. But Thicke has made it very clear that he’s not giv­ing up with­out a fight and will do what­ever he can to appease his wife and save his marriage.

At a con­cert a few days after news of their sep­a­ra­tion sur­faced, Thicke told the audi­ence, “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife sep­a­rated, but I’m try­ing to get my girl back. She’s a good woman.” He then per­formed his famous song Lost With­out U, admit­ting that he had writ­ten it for his now estranged wife. Thicke wore his wed­ding ring through­out the per­for­mance. On a side note, Paula Pat­ton was spot­ted at the air­port before the con­cert and had already removed her wed­ding ring.

Reporters caught up with Thicke at the air­port after the con­cert and when they asked about the sit­u­a­tion with his wife, he reit­er­ated that he was “just try­ing to get her back.” That same day, Paula Patton’s house was being bom­barded with over­sized, elab­o­rate flo­ral arrangements.

There’s no word yet on whether or not the celebrity cou­ple will be able to sal­vage their mar­riage, and even sources close to the celebrity cou­ple have no idea what the out­come will be. “Who knows what will hap­pen?” one insider told Peo­ple. “They do love each other. They are very good friends and will con­tinue to be as strong and as good friends as they can be.”

Whether or not the celebrity cou­ple gets back together, they’ll likely still remain close, even if it’s just for the sake of their three-year-old son. “I can truly see them being the best of friends no mat­ter what hap­pens,” said another source. “They still admire each other. She’ll always be his biggest fan and he’ll always write songs about her and put her on a pedestal.”
