For older men who are trying to get the attention of a beautiful younger woman, here’s a bit of celebrity news on how not to go about it, courtesy of The Young and the Restless star Michael Muhney. The 38-year-old actor, who plays Adam Newman on the iconic soap opera, was recently fired after his 20-year-old co-star, Hunter King (who plays the role of Summer), accused him of harassment—she reportedly told executives that he groped her breasts on two separate occasions, and both incidents were unsolicited and unwelcome.
The news of his sudden departure from the show was initially blamed on his “outspoken nature,” but new reports are claiming the sexual harassment allegations, which are still unsubstantiated, are really what led to his dismissal. Muhney also admitted himself after he was let go that he “suspected it could happen” because of his inappropriate behavior on set, adding, “Sometimes I’ve walked around with a big backpack of hubris.”
What’s especially surprising about this celebrity scandal is that Muhney has always portrayed himself as a family man off-set—he’s been married for 13 years and he and his wife have three kids together.
Fans of the soap opera are said to be outraged at the news of his dismissal, and despite the scandal surrounding his inappropriate behavior, they’re planning to protest the replacement of his character on the show. We wonder if his wife and kids will be as forgiving.
What do you think: Should Michael Muhney have been able to keep his job until the accusations were proven to be true?
