What’s the first thing you notice about a man when you’re looking for a sugar daddy? If you’ve been in age gap relationships with older men before, do you remember what it was about them that attracted you so much? It turns out that a lot of women are attracted to one similar quality when navigating through the dating scene—and it’s quite different from what men are looking for in a potential partner.
A study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology set out to determine what qualities men and women value most in someone they might be interested in dating. The researchers conducted several experiments using online chatting and speed-dating techniques. Ladies, take note, because these findings can come in handy if you’re looking for a sugar daddy and really want to catch his attention.
The results of the study revealed that women are more inclined to select a partner that’s perceived as having a high social status and were more likely to reject men who had a low social standing. Men, on the other hand, were more open to dating a woman who was perceived to be physically attractive, and would reject a woman who wasn’t as good looking.
Not only does this show that men and women screen potential partners differently, but it’s also the perfect example of why age gap relationships make sense for so many people. An older sugar daddy wants to be with someone whom they’re physically attracted to, and, for a lot of them, that happens to be a younger woman. That’s not to say that it’s all about looks, but physical attraction is undoubtedly an important element of age gap relationships, or any intimate relationship for that matter. And we’re not saying that you need to completely change the way you look or dress when looking for a sugar daddy, but you should take your physical appearance into account. A sugar daddy is usually polished, sophisticated, and mature—you want to complement that image, especially if you’ll be hanging around his colleagues and circle of friends.
Meanwhile, women want a man who is financially stable and well established, and more often than not, it’s easier to find those qualities in an older man. Age gap relationships are therefore able to cater to both men and women’s needs, at least according to this scientific study. Need we say more?
What do you think: Would you consider dating a sugar daddy with a high social standing, but who wasn’t as attractive?
