How Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ May-December Relationship Is Being Publicly Mocked

Sugar Daddy Tom Cruise and Katie HolmesKatie Holmes’ marriage—and subsequent divorce—from her older husband, Tom Cruise, has been covered in everything from devious tabloids to well-respected publications. Even though the celebrity couple split over a year ago, their famous May-December relationship will once again be in the spotlight, courtesy of the new satirical play titled The Tomkat Project, which is scheduled to hit the New York stage as part of the upcoming New York International Fringe Festival.

The Tomkat Project is a comedic, fictional recount of Cruise and Holmes’ divorce, with actors portraying the famous celebrity couple, their daughter, Cruise’s lawyer, and the leader of the Scientology faith. According to the show’s playwright, the idea started as a means of exposing tabloid headlines surrounding the famous divorce, but it grew to become a more in-depth look at Scientology, which is said to be the reason behind Cruise and Holmes’ sudden divorce. And yes, it’s a comedy.

The two-act play, which already boasts a sold-out run in Chicago, features seven actors who star as a string of famous names, including Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman, and Steven Spielberg. The storyline covers everything from the celebrity couple’s courtship, marriage, and divorce proceedings, and includes media coverage from the duration of their May-December relationship. Neither Cruise nor Holmes has commented on the production, although she lives fairly close to the theatre where the production will play.

If you’re interested in checking out The Tomkat Project, it will be playing from August 20th to 24th as part of the Fringe Festival’s lineup.

What do you think: Is The Tomkat Project all in good fun, or is it disrespectful to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? Would you go watch it?
